Keymapping on host no longer works correctly

After booting a VM, and using it for some time, the left Control key and Caps Lock key no longer work on my host.

Running "setxkbmap" fixes it.

This seems to be a very old bug, going back to at least Workstation V6:

The host is Ubuntu 13.04. The default keymapping is  set to "English, international AltGr dead keys":
